Restrict access to the affected area. Family members or occupants moving through the area can cause the spores to spread. Do not touch or disturb the mold as this may cause it to become airborne and increase spread.

If you know the mold is caused by a roof leak or a pipe break, attempt to repair or contain the root cause to prevent damage from continuing to escalate.
