Residential Dryer Vent Cleaning

Clogged dryer vents are among the leading causes of house fires. Professional dryer vent cleaning is a fundamental part of the fire safety plan for your home, as it is a thorough and effective way to remove the highly flammable lint that builds up in the vent over time.

Quote & Schedule

Make Safe & Dry Simple & Quick!

While the lint trap on your dryer collects most of the lint produced by clothing, some lint will find its way into the dryer vent itself. Flexible dryer hoses are especially prone to collecting lint with their ridges, corners, and bends. This can make your dryer less effective but can also cause a fire.  Over 25% of house fires have been traced to highly flammable lint buildup. If the dryer vent is obstructed, or otherwise harmed, it can produce enough heat to ignite a fire. Modernistic can help prevent the possibility of lint fires in the home with a professional dryer vent cleaning.

Some dryer vents are easy to access and vent directly to the outdoors.  Others run the entire length of your home and still others are difficult to reach on the second floor.  In order to ensure that the entire length of the vent is properly cleaned, count on the Modteam to use the most powerful dryer vent cleaning tools in the industry, paired with expertise and commitment to your 100% Delight!

Using a powerful reverse air whip, our NADCA-certified air duct cleaning technicians can clean your dryer vent at the same time as your air duct cleaning.  Or if you’d prefer, we can make a special visit just to check this important safety item off your list.  After a Simple & Quick dryer vent cleaning, your home will be safer and your clothes will dry faster – win, win!  If you feel that your family could benefit from a dryer vent cleaning courtesy of Modernistic, quote & schedule online today!

Benefits of Dryer Vent Cleaning

Fire Safety Is Key

Dryer lint is highly flammable. Every time you use your dryer, your dryer vent collects lint from your laundry.  It only takes one spark to ignite this dry, highly flammable material.  If your vent becomes obstructed, the heat your dryer produces cannot escape and the chance for fire increases dramatically.  Having your dryer vent cleaned by Modernistic every 6-12 months will reduce this risk.

Your Clothes Will Dry Faster

Have you ever had to run your clothes through a second cycle before they’re truly dry?  Even a third?  This is a great indicator that your dryer vent needs some TLC.  If it’s not venting properly, your dryer cannot run as efficiently and you will waste time and suffer inconvenience cycling your clothes through the dryer multiple times.  Professional cleaning makes a remarkable difference!

Save Energy, Save Money!

A clogged dryer vent makes your dryer work harder.  Whether it increases the energy-use on a single cycle, or causes you to have to run your dryer over and over again for a single load, this is not good for your wallet.  Cleaning your dryer vent on a routine basis will help you control utility costs!

Warning Signs of an Obstructed Dryer Vent:

If you notice any of the signs below, it is likely that your dryer vent has some form of obstruction.  This presents a major risk of fire in your home.

  • Clothes are taking longer than normal to dry.
  • Clothes come out of the dryer hotter than normal at the end of a standard drying cycle.
  • The flapper on your exterior dryer vent doesn’t open when the dryer is on.
  • Your dryer lint trap does not fit snugly (a loose fit will allow more lint into the vent).
  • You have a flexible or plastic dryer vent hose.
  • Your dryer is located a long distance from the exterior dryer vent.
  • The route your dryer duct takes to get to the exterior dryer vent has lots of bends.
  • You wash a lot of clothes that have been soiled with flammable materials such as gas, motor oil, cooking oil, etc.

Tips for Reducing Dryer Lint Build-up & Keeping Your Home Safe:

  • Use metal ductwork and replace foil or plastic ducts with rigid or semi-rigid ductwork which allow better airflow, are less flammable, and have fewer places for lint to be trapped.
  • Clean the dryer vent hose regularly.
  • Do not operate a dryer without the lint filter in place.
  • Clean the lint trap between each load of laundry.
  • Wash lint screens every few weeks to remove residue left by fabric softeners.
  • Ensure the outdoor vent flap can open freely (leaves, bushes, and snow can easily block the flap).
  • Keep dryers in good working order. Gas dryers should be inspected by a professional to ensure the gas line and all connections are secure and free of leaks.
  • Avoid overloading the dryer.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
  • Keep combustible chemicals away from your dryer.
  • Do not store flammable items near your dryer (boxes, clothing, chemicals, etc.).
  • Run the dryer only when you are at home.
  • Use dryer ducts that are at least 4 inches in diameter.
  • Secure all duct joints with metal tape.
  • Install duct joints so that piece nearest the dryer is on the inside joint.
  • Ensure dryer vents leave the home directly.
  • Install a screen on the outside vent of the dryer duct to prevent animals from entering the duct.
