Type: Water Damage
Cause: Burst Pipe in Church Basement
On an icy February afternoon in 2015, the staff at Lakeview Baptist Church in Battle Creek made a chilling discovery: a pipe, frozen by the winter weather, had burst in their basement kitchen. Before the leak was caught, thousands of gallons of water poured out of a ¾ inch pipe to soak the entire 6,000+ square foot basement over the course of 2 days. The kitchen cabinetry, tile and vinyl flooring, 2 storage areas, and the wood around the stage were waterlogged. They called the one company they knew had the equipment and manpower to get the job done: Modernistic. Within the hour, our crews were there assessing the damage and starting the mitigation process. Dozens of air movers and dehumidifiers were placed to dry out the materials that could be saved.
While the drying process was taking place, Modernistic estimators examined the damage caused by the flooding and came up with a gameplan to repair everything and get the church’s basement back to normal. From ceilings to kitchen cabinets to countertops to 5,000 square feet of vinyl flooring, Modernistic repaired all of the damages caused by the pipe break. Meanwhile, Modernistic claims coordinators worked with Chenard & Osborn, the church’s insurance carrier, to make the restoration process as easy as possible.
